Description
LCA is looking for full time Commercial Underwriter, Real Estate and Bridge Loans. The Commercial Underwriter will review the creditworthiness of commercial credits (businesses and/or individuals) to determine the risk involved in extending credit. This position is the decision maker of whether or not the applicant can fulfill the requested debt obligation(s).
This is a hybrid position reporting to our Salt Lake City, UT office three days a week (Tues. Wed. Thurs).

Responsibilities
- Evaluate credit risk on new or complex commercial loans with a transaction range up to $5 million.
- Review, spread, and analyze business and personal financial statements and tax returns to identify the degree of risk involved in extending credit.
- Perform due diligence on prospective and existing customers using various data sources.
- Maintain expected turnaround time in fast-paced environment with the ability to multi-task.
- Possess a solid understanding of Experian, Trans Union, Experian Business and Paynet reports.
- Ensure that decisions are in compliance with organization’s requirements/policies.
- Ability to understand, identify and consider mitigants to credit exceptions.
- Candidate will have approval authority and must maintain confidence and feel comfortable in decision making. Possess autonomy, must be able to work and make decisions with minimal supervision. Make independent business decisions and be creative in formulating appropriate solutions (e.g. structure, options, etc.).
- Willingness to provide assistance to sales as well as other departments. Candidate will work closely and effectively with sales and documentation teams to resolve issues with applications or missing information.
- Ability to interact with the customer throughout application process.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software
- 5+ years commercial real estate credit underwriting experience
- Proficiency in financial statement analysis required
- Self-motivated and detailed oriented with strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills
- Experience in Bridge Loans
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics preferred.
